What is a nixie clock?
A nixie clock is a clock that displays time using nixie tube. Nixie tubes can display numbers from 0 to 9, by heating up pieces of fillament inside the tube. You heat them up by applying a high voltage over the piece of fillament. Using this method, you can display the numbers 0 to 9 and with the help of a rtc timer you can display the time.
What did I do?
Together with a hous mate (judith), we designed a custom PCB for all the components needed for the nixie clock. The PCB contains a RTC timer, a microcontroller, a high voltage driver and the nixie tubes. Beside the PCB a custom housing was designed the house the PCB with its components. The housing is made from a wooden PLA fillament and a piece of plexiglass.
